The Aquatic Ecology Research Group (EcoAqua) is a Recerca Group Recognised by Government of Catalonia 2021-2023 (2021 SGR 1142). It had previously received funding for the 2014-2016 (2014 SGR 484) and 2017-2019 (SGR 548) periods. It includes most people from the UdG’s faculty with research affiliated to the Institute of Aquatic Ecology(IEA, UdG), belonging to the groups GRCT002 (Molecular Microbial Ecology (gEMM)) and GRCT017 (Research Group on Continental Aquatic Ecology (GRECO)) at the University of Girona (UdG) and the ecology (Department of Environmental Sciences) and microbiology (Department of Biology) units at the UdG.

EcoAqua is a big interdisciplinary group, with substantial experience in different areas of limnological research, such as microbial ecology, ecotoxicology and the ecology of different types of ecosystems and organisations, from bacteria and algae to invertebrates and fish, in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and wetlands. You can find our publications and research projects on this website and also on the IEA website. If you are not linked to the IEA and wish to receive information about the activities that we organise, write to sec.iea@udg.edu   and we will include you on our external mailing list.
