New Therapeutic Targets Research Group

Dr.Teresa Puig receives ISC funding

to research chemoresistant triple-negative breast cancer

The project entitled "El co-bloqueo de las cancer stem cells como nueva estrategia terapéutica en cáncer de mama triple negativo quimiorresistente" with reference PI19/00372 has received funding of €65,000 from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISC).

This project will be carried out from 2020 to 2023 in collaboration with different research groups and institutions such as the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO).The goal is to create new chemoresistant TN cell models and find new ways of signalling specific (targets) of the CSC population and to then evaluate the efficiency of new cycotoxic compounds. To achieve this objective we will use 3D culture. This reflects the physiological conditions of the tumour better, thus obtaining more sensitive and specific results in samples of patients at both the initial and advanced stages of the disease.
