Provide a comprehensive analysis of how the international politics of the world's major powers have joined forces with international media structures in an attempt to shape the standardisation of the world through culture and the information consumed, influencing the dynamics of power and territorial control. Topics covered include the birth of news agencies, international broadcasting and disputes over digital hegemony. Resistance from non-Western regions such as Latin America, Africa and Asia, their political models of Internet governance and their differences in the regulation and democratisation of communication will also be explored.

Comprehensively address the dynamics of disinformation; its political and social implications, as well as strategies and responses for its identification, mitigation and regulation. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the actors involved, the techniques used in the production and dissemination of disinformation, and national and international initiatives to combat it will be analysed. Legislative, media, technological and educational responses will be studied, and their impact on the preservation of information quality and public trust evaluated.

Address the study of politics and policies. Understand what a public policy is, and how to communicate it. Analyse the construction of the public and media agenda, as well as the possible ways it can be influenced. Work on the fundamentals of institutional and corporate communication, with a focus on crisis communication. Finally, the course takes an in-depth look at the use of procedures and techniques for institutional and corporate communication (press releases, press conferences, interviews, off-the-record meetings, etc.).

Analysis of the impact of digital technologies on politics, looking at the tension between democratic expansion and the social influence industry. Phenomena such as the rise of the Internet and Web 2.0, connected crowd mobilisation (from 15M to #MeToo), digital electoral processes and the challenges of artificial intelligence and disinformation will all be studied.

Analysis of unconventional participation in politics and the importance of communication. Address the forms and profiles of political participation; the emergence of social movements and their relationship with new meanings; the motivations for public involvement; the central role of communication in the organisation and actions taken by movements; the impact of mobilisation on the political process, institutions and public policies; the transformations resulting from new technologies, and the changes brought about by globalisation and the territorialisation of the politics and the media.

Explore how contemporary social, philosophical and political movements - feminism, environmentalism and anti-racism - challenge and transform the dynamics of political communication. Inclusive communication strategies that promote social justice, gender equality, environmental sustainability and the fight against structural racism are analysed, with a particular focus on emerging narratives, digital campaigns and the role of the media in constructing plural and diverse public discourse.The subject also addresses resistance and the challenges involved in implementing fairer communication practices, taking into account current political and cultural tensions.

New forms of visibility have challenged concepts as well-defined as fiction and documentary, lies and truth. They have also challenged the power of the gaze, questioning the place from which we are looking, and the gender politics that influence our gaze.

Provide the tools needed to design and develop research, combining different methodologies and approaches. Basic quantitative techniques are covered, including data processing and visualisation, as well as the analysis of large volumes of information (big data). In terms of qualitative techniques, various techniques and resources are explored, such as discourse analysis, cognitive framework analysis and ethnographic techniques, with a special emphasis on digital ethnography.

Provide the necessary tools for completing the master's thesis (TFM), which may be geared towards a practical/analytical report or formal research work.This makes for a more professional exercise, and one more suited to those who intend to pursue a research pathway with a view to doing a doctoral degree.In the first case, the TFM will consist of applying the knowledge acquired during the master to a specific case and will reflect on its development, success and feasibility.In the second case, the TFM will be based on the analysis of a problem of political communication that solves a research question by using a scientific methodology and a theoretical approach.
