Associate Professor in the Medical Science department at the Universitat de Girona (UdG). He obtained the Degree in Biochemistry (1999) an European Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2005), both at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2005). He was a predoctoral fellow in 2004 at the Unit 413 of INSERM (Rouen, France) leadered by Dr. Hubert Vaudry. He was a Sara Borrell postdoctoral fellow (Ministerio de Sanidad) from 2005 to 2010 in the Physiopathology and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases research group, leadered by Dr. Jordi Alberch (Universitat de Barcelona). In 2010, he obtained a tenured track contract in the Medical Science department at UdG where he is currently as Associate Professor from 2018. He has three merits of teaching. From 2017, he is the head of the TargetsLab at UdG. His research activity is focused on to identify new therapeutic targets to treat the motor and cognitive symptoms that occur in neurodegenerative diseases, mainly Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Briefly, his research productivity is: more than 80% of the publications are in the first quartile, he has more than 1000 citations and an h index of 22. He had participated in numerous research projects, he is the principal investigator of contracts with international pharmaceutical companies, with an European patent in development. He has three merits of research. He was coordinator of Histology in Faculty of Medicine of UdG (2014-2021) and Academic Secretary of Medical Science Department of UdG (2018-2023). Currently, he is the coordinator of Neuroscience in Faculty of Medicine of UdG (2015-) and Director of Medical Science Department of UdG (2023-).
