Lecturer in GeographyDirector of the Laboratory of Landscape Analysis and Management Research GroupJosep Pintó is a Lecturer in Physical Geography at the University of Girona (UdG) and is Director of the Laboratory of Landscape Analysis and Management. He was awarded a Doctorate in Geography by the Department of Regional Geographical Analysis and Physical Geography of the University of Barcelona. His research activity has focused on the fields of biogeography and landscape analysis and management, particularly in the area of Mediterranean and coastal landscapes. He is the author of several books and articles on these issues and has directed a wide variety of basic and applied research projects, amongst which the following are noteworthy: Cartography of the transformation of the coastal landscape of Catalonia from 1800 to 2000; Methodology for assessing the beach resource as a means of support in the integrated management of coastal tourist areas; Study of the landscape conditions of non-developable land in the municipality of Palafrugell; Design of a green belt around the Urban Area of Girona. He has also drawn up the Catàlegs de Paisatge (Landscape Catalogues) of the Camp de Tarragona region and of the Counties of Girona.
