On the social choice problem under equality constraints Joan A. Crespo (U.A.Madrid) 15/03/2019 Seminari Conferència
Resum: We consider the topological social choice problem over bounded sets of preferences defined by equality constraints. We show that, with full probability, either a social choice paradox arises or no genuine choice is possible because the set is a singleton.Furthermore, we also show that by relaxing one of the constraints to an inequality constraint in certain way that is natural in economics (in the form of an optimization problem) both issues can be avoided.
