Mission and goals

UNIACT! project

The mission of this project is essentially to contribute to social transformation through education, promoting collaboration between universities and cooperation in development, and promoting critical awareness and an active role for the academic community in the global context.

The twelve Catalan universities will roll out a plan of 7 actions during 2024 and 2025, coordinated with the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation.

Actions of the UNIACT! project

General objective of the project

  • Fostering the creation and transfer of knowledge and research linked to development cooperation.
  • Promoting university cooperation on the subject of global education and awareness.
  • Promoting the linking of the university community with education for social transformation.
  • Formalising this through the signature of a collaboration protocol between the ACCD (Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation) and the Catalan universities.

Specific goal

  • Promoting the role of the universities in teaching, research, transfer and innovation linked to development cooperation and global transformation.
  • Giving visibility to the university cooperation projects and fostering the critical thought of the student.
  • Improving the participation of the university community in activities such as Learning and Service (ApS) and other bonds with NGOs and social movements.
  • Evaluating new instruments for funding or academic recognition and the capacity of universities to intervene in emergencies or human rights violations in the Global South.

Expected results

  • The 12 Catalan universities will roll out an action plan in 2024 and 2025, coordinated with the ACCD, according to the collaboration protocol signed.
