Chair Josep Pla of literature and journalism

Presentation

In 2011, on the thirtieth anniversary of the death of the writer Josep Pla, Grup 62 formalised its commitment to a partnership between the university, the world of culture and the publishing industry based on shared interests and initiatives by promoting the Josep Pla Chair of Literature and Journalism, together with the University of Girona and the Josep Pla Foundation. The three institutions agreed to start working together within the framework of a Chair based on three institutions that guarantee its self-financing, and that, above all, complement each other.

Grup 62 brings its cultural prestige and significant business activity in the Catalan and Spanish publishing industry from Barcelona; furthermore, it also contributes the most complete collection possible with Edicions 62 and Empúries, which will add value to the Chair's library collection. Meanwhile, the University of Girona brings its reputation and academic prestige, as well as its experience in the Catalan language and literature studies. And finally, the Josep Pla Foundation, besides being the guardian of the Documentation Centre in Palafrugell, brings its long track record of cultural outreach initiatives in counties of Girona, in permanent contact with the cultural tourism sector.
