Located in the headquarters of the Museu del Suro de Catalunya in Palafrugell, the Ramir Medir Documents Centre conserves and disseminates the documentary heritage of the cork industry and civilisation to offer it to researchers and students, and to foster research in cork studies. It is made up of several collections from cork institutions and associations, such as the delegation of the Sindicato National of Madera y Corcho and the cork employers’ collections. It also includes several cork company archives, such as the giant Manufacturas del Corcho S.A. archive, and from machine supply and repair companies. It also conserves a library specialising in cork, a newspaper library with the main national and international cork publications and a collection of images.
The Documents Centre is named after Ramir Medir, a cork historian, politician and secretary of various cork employers’ and other organisations.
