Monocrystal x-ray diffraction (XRD)

DRXM

The Single Crystal X-ray Technique is used for structural determination from a single crystal. In other words, the three-dimensional image of the molecule or molecules that make up the crystal is obtained, being able to clearly establish its structure, bond distances and angles, configurations, hydrogen bond, etc.

Job request

In order to request it, you must fill out the order form and send it to the staff of the Chemical and Structural Analysis Unit

Toxicity and storage precautions must be reported.Once the report is delivered, there is a maximum period of one week to collect the sample, otherwise it will be destroyed.

The equipment

Single Crystal X-ray Diffractometer:

Brand :
Bruker

Model :
D8 QUEST ECO
Technical specifications:
  • Molybdenum X-ray tube
  • PHOTON II Area Detector (CPAD type)
  • Three circle goniometer
  • Can work at non-ambient temperatures from 80ºC to -173ºC (OXFORD Cryostream 800)

How does it work?

A crystalline sample is necessary, from which a crystal is selected that is used to acquire data from its diffraction pattern. These data are treated with the appropriate software in order to solve and refine the structure.

Applications / Practical cases

Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry.Identification of Substances.Polymorphism Studies.
