International Advisory Board

This board monitors and evaluates the activities and results of the project, and contributes to improve them, through remote evaluation and direct participation in project meeting and activities:

Dr Joz Motmans is a guest teacher in Gender Studies at the Centre for Research on Gender and Culture, where he teaches the courses “Gender &; Diversity” in the Linking Course Master of Arts in Gender and Diversity . Dr Joz Motmans is also a senior expert and scientific staff member at the University Hospital of Ghent, coordinating the information and expertise centre on trans issues in Belgium (www.transinfo.be ).  Dr Joz Motmans holds an MA in Clinical Psychology (UGent, 1999), a postgraduate in Women's Studies (UAntwerp, 2002), and a PhD in Social Sciences (UAntwerp, 2010).Montmans is one of the co-founders of the European Professional Association for Transgender Health (EPATH ), and currently President of this association.

Dr Mónica López López is the Coordinator of Internationalisation for the Department of Pedagogical and Educational Sciences at the University of Groningen, and the Chair of the Advisory Board of the Summer & Winter Schools Programme of the University of Groningen.Mónica López López obtained her PhD in Psychology at the University of Oviedo, Spain.She is an Associate Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences of the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.Mónica has been involved in transferring scientific knowledge, teaching at the international master Youth Society and Policy, training professionals, and working in international research networks.She is a board member of EUSARF and she was the founder of the EUSARF Academy, a network for PhD students and early careers conducting research in the field of child and family welfare.
 

Dr Rubén Ávila is a human rights advocate and is the head of the policy and research team at the International LGBTQI Youth & Student Organisation (IGLYO).Rubén also works as an Affiliated teacher at the Open University of Catalonia.As part of their role at IGLYO, they advocate for protecting and promoting LGBTQI youth rights (with a particular focus on inclusive education, health, and safety).They have implemented extensive work benchmarking legal and policy standards on LGBTQI inclusive education and facilitating best practice exchange between Council of Europe Member States.They regularly contribute to policy meetings, represent the organisation, and draft briefings and recommendations on issues concerning LGBTQI youth rights.Rubén also acts as IGLYO’s contact point for international institutions and organisations, such as the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Governmental Focal Points Network, the Council of Europe, UNESCO, and the UN Independent Expert on SOGI or the UN Youth Envoy.
