Connecting families, educators and policy makers to improve the well-being of LGBTIQ children through an intersectional approach.

Project description

The general objective of this project financed by the European Union is to combat gender violence and improve the well-being of LGBTIQ children through a comprehensive educational approach that connects educational environments with rainbow families. The CLICK project contributes to the well-being of LGBTIQ children working closely with both families with iris - understood as any family with an LGBTIQ member - and education professionals. Putting children. s interests at the centre, the project promotes active collaboration between these two types of players, who reflect beyond their own contexts.

The project is developed by adopting a child-centred perspective, where children are the protagonists of their own development. The CLICK project incorporates an intersectional approach that ensures that the interests of all LGBTIQ children are at the centre. To achieve this, diversity of identities and experiences is a constituent element of all the project. s activities. Likewise, published materials include a direct reference to the intersectional approach.

The CLICK project addresses the priorities established by the main European Union bodies and policies, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the 2030 Agenda. s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Objectives

  • Increase understanding of the experiences of LGBTIQ children in relation to anti-LGBTIQ violence and discrimination as gender violence, as well as their resilience practises.
  • Analyzing current legislation and policies linked to LGBTIQ children, rainbow families, and education, as well as gender violence, focusing on LGBTIQ issues, and mapping professional practical classes that promote good practices.
  • Raise awareness of the rights of LGBTIQ children.
  • Promote safe spaces free of gender violence for LGBTIQ children to strengthen their trust, developing specific actions aimed at improving the well-being of trans and intersex children.
  • Establishing an active relationship between education professionals and families with the interests of LGBTIQ children as the main focus.
  • Increase the expertise of education professionals working with children, strengthen their capacity to support and empower LGBTIQ children from an intersectional approach, and increase the local capacity of professionals to address issues related to gender violence against LGBTIQ children.
  • Promoting the involvement of policy makers in the well-being of LGBTIQ children by publishing national reports, a webinar on public policies, a position document, articles in the media and the final conference.
  • Promote changes in attitude and behaviour in society in general that help create a context for LGBTIQ children and adolescents free from gender violence.

International Advisory Council (IAB).
