International Day of Women and Girls in Science

11F: Dia Internacional de la Dona i la Nena a la Ciència

El Dia Internacional de la Dona i la Nena a la Ciència, proclamat per les Nacions Unides, se celebra cada 11 de febrer per reconèixer el paper fonamental de les dones en la recerca científica i tecnològica i per promoure la participació plena i equitativa de dones i nenes en els àmbits STEAM (Ciència, Tecnologia, Enginyeria, Arts i Matemàtiques).

Amb motiu d’aquesta jornada, la Universitat de Girona dona visibilitat a les investigadores de la seva comunitat universitària posant en relleu la seva contribució a la recerca STEAM i fomentant vocacions científiques i tecnològiques entre les noves generacions.

A través d’aquest compromís, la universitat reafirma el seu suport a la igualtat de gènere en la recerca, ajuda a empoderar les dones per trobar l'equitat entre home/dona en l'àmbit de la recerca.

From 9 to 13 February 2026

As part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the University of Girona, in collaboration with Girona City Council, organises a series of activities to bring STEAM research closer to society and strengthen the visibility of researchers.

Posters in the neighbourhoods of Girona

In February, there will be a travelling exhibition on the public billboards in the neighbourhoods of Girona to highlight the trajectory and contribution of the researchers of the University of Girona.

Awakening science vocations


On 9 March, UdG researchers will hold a career orientation day for secondary school students to promote careers in science and present female role models and sources of inspiration.The researchers taking part are:

Arlet Brufau (OEIAC); Anna Freixa (ICRA); Sílvia Pereira (Public Law); Marta Roqueta (Infirmary); Alba Abras (Biology); Mònica Toldrà (Engineering QATA).

Location: Cultural Centre La Mercè
Time: from 10 am to 12 noon.

The municipal broadcaster has scheduled interviews with university researchers, who will discuss their research, professional experience and professional career, with the aim of giving a voice and visibility to women scientists on the programme "Els 4 Rius" by Ràdio GironaFM.
