Preparation and characterization of metallic complexes that mimic natural systems involving redox processes, for example the modelization of the active centre of non-heme proteins that participate in O2 metabolism.The study of the corresponding action mechanisms provides a fundamental structural, spectroscopic and mechanistic knowledge, and allows highly efficient model systems to be designed.Study of the high states of oxidation of the metals involved in the catalytic activity of oxygenase enzymes (Cu, Co, Fe and Mn), of major interest in the design of biomimetic oxidation catalysts that use clean oxidants (O2, H2O2) in order to oxidise hydrocarbons and study their activity in generating H2.Study of Ru and Mn complexes involved in the catalysis of O2 water oxidation, imitating the behaviour of CGO in green plants.Study of the mechanisms of interaction of mono complexes and dinuclear complexes of Pt and/or Cu with DNA, in order to evaluate nuclease and/or antitumour activity.
