Resultats obtinguts

La UniSey ha acollit diversos estudiants del programa de màster EMTM per a la realització de la seva tesi de màster. Alhora, professors de la UniSey han participat en diversos programes acadèmics de la UdG durant les seves visites, impartint seminaris sobre desenvolupament del turisme i sostenibilitat, llengua i comunicació, i protecció d'illes i espais marins. Per la seva banda, els diversos professors de la UdG que han visitat UniSey han impartit cursos als programes de la UniSey en turisme, cultura, blue economy i medi ambient, han assessorat UniSey en el disseny del seu nou grau en desenvolupament del turisme, i han explorat noves vies de futura col·laboració acadèmica. Recentment, i després de diverses reunions amb representants del govern i altres institucions de Seychelles es va acordar aprofundir en la col·laboració entre UdG i UniSey en un projecte Horizon Europe – MSCA-SM al camp de la protecció d'entorns aquàtics i l'economia blava , àmbit en què UniSey està especialitzada. També s'està treballant en la ideació de possibles nous projectes col·laboratius a l'àrea de comunicació cultural i creolització lingüística.

  • Academic seminars on Tourism Destination branding are taught by staff from the UdG in the master programme in Tourism and Heritage at UniSey

  • UniSey becomes Associated Partner of the Erasmus Mundus European project Master in Tourism Management Project (EMTM).
  • A course on Sustainable Business Models for Tourism is taught by UdG staff in the master programme in Tourism and Heritage at UniSey.
  • Seminars on Heritage tourism management in Seychelles are taught in the master EMTM programme at UdG.
  • Initial commitment of UdG and UniSey to explore opportunities to extend the collaboration towards the areas of Blue Economy, Marine and Island conservation and Language and Culture.
  • One student from the EMTM programme at UdG visits UniSey for three months as Exchange students under the associated partnership in the Erasmus Mundus project. Dr. Marina Regnault from UniSey plays the role of supervisor of the master thesis research project.

  • The rector of UniSey visits the rector of UdG.
  •  A full course on Business models for sustAinable tourism is taught by UdG staff in the UniSey’s Master Programme in Tourism and Heritage
  • Initial commitment with Seychelles Ministries and other institutions to further explore opportunities for collaboration in international projects in areas of interest for Seychelles. 
  • Agreement on preparing future staff mobilities involving staff from environmental sciences and blue economy areas.
  • Two  Exchange students from the EMTM programme at UdG visits UniSey for three months as  exchange students under the associated partnership in the Erasmus Mundus project. Dr. Marina Regnault from UniSey plays the role of supervisor of the master thesis research project. 
     

  • Justin Valentin, the rector of UniSey, takes the position of Minister of Education in the government of Seychelles, and proposes a programme for Seychellois students to enroll the University of Girona’s bachelor’s in medicine, funded by the Government of Seychelles. The specificity of the programmes in Medicine and the way student’s enrolment is organized made the proposal impossible to implement.
  • The COVID pandemic makes all the plans made stop, and it is not until 2022 that the mobilities programme is resumed.
  • The master in Tourism and Heritage is discontinued at UniSey.

  • Dr. Gerard Rocamora (UniSey) participates (on-line) in an international webinar organized by the Tourism Campus and by the Heritage Campus at the University of Girona on the topic of “Conservation of Natural Heritage and Tourism Management: a Symbiosis for the Future”.

  • Dr. Gerard Rocamora (UniSey) participates (on-line) in an international webinar organized by Dr. Jaume Guia in the framework of the E+ CBHE Mehmed project, on “Climate and Environmental Change and Tourism: Impacts and Attenuation Mechanisms”.    
  • Teaching seminars by UniSey staff at UdG on the use of English, French and Creole Seselwa in Seychelles, on socio-cultural issues of tourism development in Seychelles, and on marine and island conservation: the case of Seychelles
  • Institutional Meeting of the delegation with the UdG rector
  • Research seminar organized by ODELLEUM on Language, Creolization, and Identity, with participation of researchers from UniSey and UdG
  • Field visit to Illes Medes i Montgrí nature park and research seminar on Island Protected Areas
  • Teaching seminars by UdG staff at UniSey on the governance of blue economy 
  • Assistance by UdG staff to the Faculty of Business and Sustainable Development at UniSey to design a new bachelor’s programme in tourism management, which has started in 2023
  • Presentation by UdG staff to UniSey researchers in the areas of Blue Economy, Tourism, Culture and Conservation, about the plans to prepare a research proposal on Blue Economy Governance and Marine conservation, to be eventually submitted to the Horizon Europe – MSCA-SM call, and to jointly assess the value that such a proposal would bring to UniSey and Seychelles. 
  • Institutional Meeting with the Vice-chancellor to take stock of the ongoing cooperation.
  • Institutional visit to the Ministry of Education of Seychelles to follow up on opportunities for further collaboration.
  • Capacity building session by UdG staff to the administrative staff of UniSey about the administrative management of Joint international programmes, under the Erasmus Mundus framework
     

  • Teaching seminars by UniSey staff at UdG on the role of tourism for the Seychelles’ blue economy, on the role of marine Parks in Seychelles tourism strategy, and on Restaurar illes per a salvar especies: el cas de les illes Seychelles.
  • Agreement by UniSey to participate in the research project on Blue Economy and Marine conservation that the University is planning to prepare.
  • The bachelor’s programme on Tourism Management at UniSey, the design of which was done in collaboration with UdG starts its first course.
  • The Parc Natural del Montgrí i de les Illes Medes invites Dr. Gerard Rocamora (UniSey) to lead a project for the deratization of the Medes Islands, in collaboration with the University of Girona
  • Teaching seminars by UdG staff at UniSey on how flora, birds and other fauna recover after fire, on cultural communication, on tourism management in marine and coastal protected areas, and on tourism resilience to crisis.
  • First meetings with UniSey and other blue economy institutions in Seychelles in the areas of marine conservation and tourism in protected areas for a preliminary assessment of the value Seychelles could both provide to, and get from, the research project Horizon Europe – MSCA-SM, to be further developed and eventually submitted to the call by a consortium of universities and institutions from different countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
