Teaching is concentrated in the faculties and schools, and the departments deal with research, which is also conducted by institutes and chairs, at the same time responsible for knowledge promotion.
The most common resources that are usually shared with students are files and links to web pages.
Moodle allows you to upload any file type to your subject: text files, spreadsheets, presentations, images, videos and so on. You will need to use the File resource. The only limitation is file size, which cannot be greater than 100 Mb (default value). To find out how to upload a file, watch this video .
Tip: If you don't need your students to be able to edit the text document you upload to the subject, it's better to use PDF format.
Tip: Video files are usually very large. They are often over 100 Mb.If you've made a video and want to share it, the best idea is to upload it to a video repository (YouTube, Vimeo...) and put a link on your subject page. You can find out how to do it in this video .
Tip: By default, the full size of files that teaching staff can upload is 100 Mb.In most cases this will be entirely sufficient.Uploading bigger files is not advisable. You can, however, increase upload capacity at Administration > Change settings > File area.
If you want to create a link to a useful website for your subject, Moodle makes it really easy for you to do that. You'll need to add a URL resource. You can see how to do it in this video .
If you add a lot of contents and activities to the same subject, you may need to organise them so students can understand the structure of what you are offering them. You can use the Label resource to organise all the items in a subject. You can see how to do it in this video .
If you add a lot of files and links, the subject may end up being too cluttered, lacking structure and things may get lost. Our tip if this is the case is to use the Folder and Page resources to organise files and links. This video shows you how to do it.
If you want students to share material they have prepared or come across, a good way to do this is by creating a folder so that they can put everything in there.Students cannot generally upload anything to folders, but this video tells you how you to do it.
