It is a group with extensive experience in carrying out research projects financed by both the State and by the Catalan Regional Government, which is why it can be considered a benchmark group at the national level in criminological and penal studies. It has specialised in the study of the criminal justice system and crime policy, with a particular interest in lines of research such as: alternatives to prison sentences, public opinion, democracy and criminal justice, immigration, justice and the gender perspective, judicial discretionality, the sociology of punishment, conformity as an end to criminal proceedings, cybercrime, juvenile delinquency and European crime policy.
The group is currently undertaking different projects focused on these lines of research with the aim of providing solid knowledge that on the one hand will help public authorities with decision making to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system, and on the other, will be useful to the academic community and society in general in providing tools to analyse and evaluate public policy.
