Regulations of the global test for the homologation of foreign qualifications

Amended by the regulations for sitting and passing supplementary training requirements prior to official recognition of foreign higher-education qualifications

When a student with foreign qualifications requests their homologation from the Ministry of Education and Science and these qualification are not totally equivalent to any Spanish qualification, the resolution of the Ministry can condition the homologation to passing certain subject areas in a global test. This test can be taken at any university in Spain that teaches the official degree of the qualification seeking homologation.

If they opt for the University of Girona, the person concerned must submit an application to the corresponding teaching centre, together with the resolution issued by the corresponding organ of the MEC, and pay the fees established for doing the whole test, which are published annually in the DOGC.

In accordance with the Order of 21 July 1995 (BOE no. 178, of 27 July 1995), the teaching institution will nominate the panel that must evaluate the student and establish the call in which the test must be taken, as well as notify the interested person of the date of the test. This notification must be made at least 30 calendar days before taking the test.

Once the test has been taken, the exam record must be prepared with the corresponding mark.

The notifications of the constitution of the panel and the exam results along with the documentation provided by the student must be processed by the Department of Certificates of the Academic Management Section of the Academic and Student Administration Service once the interested party has passed the test.

The Department of Certificates of the Academic Management Section of the Academic and Student Administration Service must provide the MEC with a copy of the exam results. Once the notification of the exam results is received, the Ministry must issue the student with the appropriate accreditation.

If the student does not pass the educational requirements within a period of 2 years counting from the notification of the resolution, the conditioned homologation is no longer effective, without the interested party losing their right to request the validated credit transfer of their qualification for partial studies. This restriction only affects the applications formalised with the MEC after September 2004, by virtue of article 17, section 5, and the only transitory disposal of Royal Decree 285/2004 (BOE no. 3/55, of 31 March 2011

The student has the right to two annual calls. When the student comes from another university, the UdG will consider the subjects that are recorded as passed on the certificate sent by the University of origin. To these effects the University must proceed as if it were an academic record transfer.
