Introduction to the notion of Cultural Heritage from an interdisciplinary and integrationist perspective.Cultural Heritage is presented, within an extensive definition framework of culture, establishing the relationship with memory, identity and the geographical framework behind it.The concept's development is approached to facilitate the identification of its main uses and functions.Students will become familiar with its framework of application in the 21st century, with a humanistic and critical approach, and issues dealt with ranging from conservation to restoration, not to mention management and social function.It will also prepare students, in their professional placements, in providing them with a series of tools and ideas, such as being faced with a living subject involved in the role of current societies; in the renewal of theory debates on Heritage; and in responsibility in its practical application.

Subject that delves deeply into the knowledge and understanding of the huge diversity of natural and cultural landscapes surrounding the Mediterranean.This approach sees the Mediterranean area as a region with its own features from climate, bio-geographic and cultural points of view, among other things.Emphasis will be put on the special features of the natural, agricultural and urban landscapes of its northern and southern shores, largely due to a millennial anthropic action.

Studying and experimenting with several methods and techniques to analyse the social phenomena that occur at a specific time and space.Quantitative techniques are worked to measure and numerically analyse the data extracted from primary (questionnaires, surveys, cartographic analyses) or secondary (statistics) sources.On the other hand, qualitative methods are shown to provide a better understanding of the social, cultural and territorial contexts through interviews, observations and analysis of cases, documentary sources, discussion groups, etc.

The subject will focus on analysing and understanding the historical development of the main impact of the great environmental problems on a planetary scale, not to mention regional scale too, and, finally, its repercussions at local level in the context of global environmental change.The following derived key themes are approached on this multi-scalar basis: the awakening of environmental and sustainability consciousness, Anthropocene, the climate crisis, the food crisis, the migratory crisis.Special emphasis, when dealing with all these derivatives, is put on their manifestations, consequences and future scenarios in the context of the Mediterranean basin.

Contents: The concept of "Europe," geographical diversity and territorial imbalances; the physical environment; the European population; the Europe of cities; rural spaces; geoeconomic changes; political Europe: the construction of the European political space, the European Union, and geopolitical conflicts.

Issues and reflections on architecture and urban planning, especially on nature and the urban-planning transformations and architectural creations in the realm of the city as a setting of western culture through the main examples from antiquity to the present day.The subject puts the emphasis on issues relating to the concepts of city and urban space and teaches students how to distinguish the typologies, developments, languages and changing proposals through information research and the study and application of theoretical and real models.Students will acquire a series of competencies that will be of great use to them in the professional practice of History of Art, given the important presence of contents on history of architecture and its authors and in the theoretical debate and its application within the framework of cities and societies.

Study of the general geographical characteristics of Spain as a whole, and Catalonia in particular, from the point of view of the physical environment as well as the human activities that take place there.Here the focus is on both their evolution and current features.Aspects such as the physical and regional structure of these territories, population and settlement, economic activities and the political-administrative organisation are given special attention.This centre of interest culminates in the study of a specific areas in Catalonia-Spain through field work and the writing of the corresponding report.

Approach to population studies from different perspectives.From an instrumental perspective, students are provided with the basic knowledge of demographic analysis and socio-territorial and environmental planning.Hence, the current distribution and situation of the population on a worldwide scale, and the Spanish and Catalan populations, their structure and the processes of permanence and change, are studied, paying particular attention to the analysis of the causes and consequences of inequalities.

The aim of this subject is to analyse mountain areas using a socio-ecological approach, to be able to manage them from an integrated perspective.A socio-ecological system refers to the interrelations between a biophysical unit (climate, relief, vegetation, fauna, and so on)and the social stakeholders who intervene in it. We will also analyse the environmental, socio-economic, cultural and political factors affecting mountain socio-ecological systems, along with how those systems respond. Sustainability is another aspect of this approach.Knowledge of Physical Geography (climatology, geomorphology, biogeography, and so on) will be combined with this goalwith knowledge of human geography (demography, economic studies, analysis of social stakeholders, and so on),and other integrating areas of knowledge (ecosystem services, landscape analysis, and so on).At the end of the subject, the students should be able to understand a specific mountain area and introduce management solutions there to improve both its ecosystems and the welfare of the society that lives there.

From the exploration of spatial data, the geographical data set will be combined using analytical operators, GPS functions, modelling, etc.to understand, to describe and to predict the functioning and relationsship between elements in the real world.We will work with raster and vectorial layers to generate new data, maps, tables or graphs, with private and free GIS (ArcGis Desktop, ArcGis Pro and QGis).The course will look at the handling and interpretation of remote sensor or satellite images.
