1. Acquire basic concepts underlying forensic anthropology. 2. Know the different techniques which can be applied to bones for human remains identification. 3. Identify features of sexual dimorphism and age-related differences of the skeleton. 4. Learn to apply the osteological techniques for estimation of sex, age, stature and ancestry based on macroscopic assessment of skeletal material. 5. Learn to apply the osteological techniques for sex, age, stature and typology estimation based on assessment of high resolution X-ray material. 6. Stimulate the interest and intellectual curiosity of the students.

The evaluation of this elective will be done by PBL tutorial evaluation (1) and an PB Exam (2). 1- The PBL tutorial evaluation will consider according to the offitial rubrica of the Faculty of Medicine: a) the learning abilities, b) communication skills, c) responsibility, d) interpersonal relationships of each student. 2- The PB Exam will consider skills of: a) observation, b) description, c) interpretation of osteological remains. This exam will have two sessions: - First session: presentation of two cases (images). The student will have to choose on of them. Write a general description (inventory, material and qüestions for solve) - Second session: answer shorts qüestions about the chosen case To pass the module the student must have passed (APT = 5:00) both PBL tutorial evaluation and the PB Exam. Those who have passed PBL evaluation and failed the PB Exam will have the opportunity to do another exam in order to pass the module Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:The mark "No Presentat" corresponts to the student who has not done any of the evaluation activities.

PBLs are evaluable. - PBL acctivities will be in Multifuncio Classroom (Aula Multifunció) WORKSHOPS - Attendance at workshops is compulsory. Workshops are not evaluable. - Group changes are not accept without prior justification. - The use of white coat is mandatory. - The scripts of practices can be found in PDF format in the section Contents and Documents of the module. - It is the responsibility of each student had previously worked and prepared the script of practices. Organization of workshops : The workshops will be in the Human Anatomy Laboratory. It is advisable to take your own notes, to have a dossier of methods or book. LECTURES Attendance at Lectures is compulsory. PB EXAM The PB Exam will be both written and visual. It may include questions from any activity done in the module.
