On Saturday, May 17th, students from the Master in Intelligent Robotic Systems (MIRS) and the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Intelligent Field Robotic Systems (IFROS) took a well-deserved break from their academic routines to explore the natural beauty surrounding Girona. Accompanied the academic coordinators and professors of the program, Narcís Palomeras Rovira and Nuno Ricardo Estrela Gracias, as well as the master's program manager, Imma Güell Costa, the group set off on a scenic hike to the historic Castell de Sant Miquel. Located just outside the city, Sant Miquel is a popular hiking destination that offers a panoramic view of the entire Girona region. The trail to the summit begins near the outskirts of the city and winds through lush forested paths, gradually revealing breathtaking vistas of rolling hills and the old town's medieval skyline. The castle ruins at the top provide not only a glimpse into the region's rich history but also a perfect viewpoint for group photos and quiet reflection. The group began their ascent at 9:30 AM, and after an invigorating 1.5-hour hike, they reached the summit. Despite the physical effort, the shared experience fostered a strong sense of camaraderie among students and faculty alike. Conversations flowed freely, laughter echoed through the trees, and everyone enjoyed a refreshing change of pace in the great outdoors. The hike to Sant Miquel wasn’t just about enjoying nature—it was also a great opportunity for informal exchanges between students and professors outside the classroom environment. Events like these highlight the community spirit of both MIRS and IFROS programs, encouraging friendships and connections that extend beyond academic collaboration. We thank Professors Palomeras and Estrela, and Imma Güell, for joining the hike and making the day even more memorable. We're already looking forward to the next adventure!
