Dr. Ariadna Gassiot Melian is an associate professor at the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Girona (UdG), within the Department of Organization, Business Management and Product Design (OGEDP). She currently also serves as Secretary of the Faculty of Tourism and quality manager. She holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Girona (2016), awarded with the distinction of Excellent Cum Laude and the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. Her research career focuses on tourism from a multidisciplinary perspective, with special attention to accessible and inclusive tourism, tourist behavior, as well as destination image and branding. Her doctoral thesis addressed the behavior of tourists with disabilities, establishing an integrated behavioral model in tourist destinations. Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous national and international competitive research projects, including European initiatives related to sustainable development, accessible tourism, and innovation in tourism products. Recently, she has taken on the role of principal investigator in projects on accessible tourism and sustainable gastronomic experiences. She has an established scientific output, with more than 30 articles published in academic journals indexed in JCR and Scopus. These include Tourism Management Perspectives, European Journal of Tourism Research, British Food Journal, and Consumer Behavior in Tourism and Hospitality. Her publications mainly focus on tourist consumer behavior, accessible and inclusive tourism, and tourism experiences. This body of work is complemented by other articles in indexed journals, book chapters, and participation in international conferences, strengthening the visibility and impact of her research. In the field of teaching, she lectures in the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, the Master’s Degree in Tourism Management and Planning, and the Bachelor’s Degree in Global Studies at the UdG. She has supervised undergraduate and master’s final projects and actively participates in the supervision of doctoral theses. At the international level, she has undertaken research stays at institutions such as Sheffield Hallam University (United Kingdom) and has participated in academic mobility programs in various countries. She also collaborates as a reviewer for international scientific journals.
