Manuela Hidalgo is Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Girona. She teaches different subjects in the Chemistry and Environmental Science BSc programs and in the master program of Water Science and Technology. She also participates in the Master of Applied Chromatographic Techniques, being the responsible of this program at the University of Girona. She graduated in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1986) and received her PhD in Chemistry (1991) from the same university. She undertook post-doctoral research visits at the University of California at Berkeley and the Massachusetts Institute of Tecnology (MIT). Dr. Hidalgo currently leads the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Research Group at the University of Girona. She has co-authored more than 120 research papers in the areas of Analytical Chemistry, Separation and Environmental Science, and supervised 11 PhD theses. Her research interests include sample treatment methodologies, chromatographic techniques, atomic spectrometry (ICP and XRF) and the mobility and fate of contaminants in the environment.
