Yentel Mateo Otero graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Sciences) from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and a Master in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from Universitat de Girona (UdG). In January 2019, Yentel joined the Research group in Biotechnology of Animal and Human Reproduction (TechnoSperm) from the Biology Departament and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Technology (INTEA) with a Colaboración Fellowship from the Ministerio de Educación y Formación Professional of the Spanish Government. Next, in April 2020, she obtained a grant for the recruitment of new research staff (FI 2022) to develop her doctoral thesis in reproduction and embryo development. To complete her PhD, she did two research stays in the University of Bologna and the University of Oxford. Moreover, Yentel previously collaborated in 2013-2014 with the Biomaterials for Regenerative Therapies group from the Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC) and in 2017 with the Neurodegenerative and Demyelinating diseases group (NeuroGene) from the Institut de Neurociències UAB. Yentel’s research is focused on the Reproduction Biotechnology and Cell Biology fields in several mammalian species. Her current research lines include both the study of male reproductive physiology (specifically the identification of proteomic and metabolomic fertility biomarkers) and the description of the dialogue between the embryo and the maternal environment.
