The sixth edition of “Robotics Night” awarded the “Professional Career Prize” to the physicist and computer engineer Joan Batlle i Grabulosa for his work in the area of the underwater robotics at the Institute of Research in Computer Vision and Robotics (VICOROB) at the University of Girona.
Joan Batlle is a graduate in Physics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a PhD in Computer Sciences from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. In 1991 he helped to launch the Department of Computer Architecture and Technology, which he was director of. From 2002 to 2005 he was the University of Girona’s rector. He was also in charge of the University's business-incubator network, where he promoted research and technology transfers. He has been an emeritus professor at the University of Girona since 2014.
