Carmina Virgili

Doctor Honoris Causa

The professor of Geology, Carmina Virgili, born in Barcelona in 1927, is the first woman to be honoured with this qualification at the UdG, and it is also the first honorary doctorate she has received.

The University of Girona has awarded her this qualification for her personal and professional trajectory, which has been the paradigm of an exemplary university profile: the teaching vocation, excellence in research and enthusiastic commitment to management responsibilities, which have made her a well-known figure in our country and deserving of our deepest acknowledgement, by agreement of the Governing Council of the University of Girona in session 3/08, of 27 March 2008, at the proposal of the Rectorship.
