Chair of the Observatory of Women’s Studies

Objectives

  1. Promote the transfer of university knowledge through the development of training, dissemination and awareness-raising activities, linked to teaching and research with a gender perspective, projected transversally in the different fields of knowledge and centred on women.
  2. To encourage the production of studies, reports, analyses and evaluations on the situation of women in various spheres of social, cultural, economic and political life amongst the teaching and research staff at the University of Girona, and to share the results in collaboration with local authorities, associations and public and private organisations in the region.
  3. To promote debate and critical reflection on gender bias, discrimination, glass ceilings and obstacles that hinder real and effective equal opportunities for women in various spheres.
  4. To promote debate and critical reflection the various forms of gender-based violence by organising informative, educational and awareness-raising activities.
  5. To contribute to cultural and scientific revitalisation, in collaboration with public authorities, educational institutions, and public and private organisations.
  6. To promote popular science publications in fields related to the Chair’s remit.
  7. To organise activities aimed at recognising women’s contributions to various fields of knowledge and to the transformation of society.
  8. To organise grants, awards and prizes in fields related to the Chair’s remit.
  9. To collaborate on the University of Girona’s gender equality policies and to foster opportunities for networking and collaboration with other universities and public bodies with responsibilities in this area.
