Forest Chair

The Forest Chair aims to promote studies and applied research to assessments of forest eco-systemic services, to promote techno-scientific initiatives and projects, and act as a centre for exchanging and transferring knowledge and technology.

The goal is to establish and fine-tune tools for assessing these eco-systemic services to help to involve institutions and above all the private sector in the shaping of a key green country infrastructure: of a now prescriptive network of forests managed through natural dynamics, integrated into a multifunctional and resilient agro-silvo-pastoral mosaic. Highlighting the mosaic’s mature forest sectors, enables the channelling of resources that encourage improvements to the forest state of the respective estates, an improvement that includes restorations of open spaces, promotions of extensive livestocks, preventions of forest fires, adaptations of young and compact structures and restorations of historical-architectural heritage. The aim is being effectively pursued through 4 lines of work: territory; biodiversity; climatic action and health and welfare.
