Gender equality

Guides by area

Document that sets out the series of gender equality policies and with a gender perspective applied to science in higher education in Catalonia, defining its four strategic pillars and the assessment indicators.

General aims of the Gender Equality in Science Strategy

  • Making progress with the effective equality of women and men in all research fields, in particular, addressing efforts to correct gender inequalities in the different phases of individuals’ scientific careers and in leadership positions, with a particular focus on multiple or intersectional inequalities and overcoming gender barriers in research, transfer and innovation.

  • Promoting the transformation of the organisational culture and the professional structure in the field of research across all areas of knowledge to eliminate obstacles and systemic barriers, implicit biases and stereotypes, and to promote the joint responsibility for care and striking a work-life balance as well as the inclusion of the diversity.

  • Preventing and repairing any form of chauvinistic violence and other types of harassment related to gender, as well as guaranteeing equal treatment and the elimination of discrimination due to origin, nationality, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ethnoracial identity, religion, age, disability or other social or personal conditions.

  • Developing and consolidating the Catalan model of gender equality in research through the new framework regulating the integral commitment of stakeholders of the research system to make progress with the effective equality of women and men, as well as the transformations of the organisational culture and the professional structure.
