Guide to help for women experiencing gender violence

The Catalan Women’s Institute has produced the “Guide to Help for Women in situations of Gender Violence” with the aim of providing a practical resource available to all women in Catalonia, so that they can learn about, recognise and request any help they consider appropriate to guarantee their rights.

The offices assisting victims of crime are a free service that provides assistance, support and guidance for victims of a crime and is a coordination point for the protection orders of victims of domestic and gender violence adopted by judicial bodies in Catalonia.

These offices are accountable to the Directorate General for Criminal Justice System in the Community and Youth Justice and their purpose is to offer victims information and support so they can exercise the rights recognised by current legislation, as well as provide comprehensive assistance to boost personal recovery and reduce victimisation.

The intention of this service is to:

  • Promote the rights of victims and promote the application and development of the regulatory framework.
  • Act as a bridge between the victims and the judicial authorities involved in the process.
  • Provide comprehensive care that avoids revictimisation, minimises the after-effects and enhances psychosocial recovery.
