Throughout the course, unannounced online quizzes will be conducted during class to ensure continuous engagement with the course material. The student with the highest number of correct answers will receive the maximum score, and other students' scores will be proportionally scaled based on the highest score. These quizzes cannot be retaken. The quizzes will contribute 25% to the final grade. AI is not allowed. |

| Presentation |
Individual or small group. Students must prepare a presentation from a lecture related to a course topic. Presentations should be around 20 minutes long, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session. Lectures would be facilitated by the instructor. Presentations will be scheduled since week 4. AI is allowed but the student is responsible of getting enough knowledge. During the presentation, the instructor would make questions to the presenters and, three questions without a correct answer implies enough evidence of not having reach the minimum required level, failing the presentation. |

| Deliverables |
Deliverables (15 and 20%). Individual. Two deliverables, one during the course and the last one during last course weeks. These deliverables will serve as an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of key concepts, engage in critical thinking, and showcase their research and writing skills. The essay should be well-structured, with a clear thesis, coherent arguments, and proper citations or, a problem solving scheme. Evaluation will be based on the originality of ideas, depth of analysis, clarity of expression, and adherence to academic standards. Students are encouraged to select a topic that aligns with their interests within the course framework and to consult with the instructor for guidance. AI is allowed but the student is responsible of getting enough knowledge. To fulfill that the students have enough knowledge about their deliverable and own elaboration, the instructor would make questions to the presenters and, three questions without a correct answer implies enough evidence of not having reach the minimum required level, failing the deliverable |

Failing to deliver or present part of the assignments will result in a "No presentat" final grade.

Final exam on the entire course material (100% of the final grade)

To pass, the weighted average of the different items of the course must be a 5. It is not necessary for all of them to be above 5 to pass the course

Observacions
This course examines various topics in public economics, focusing on the role of government in the economy. We will explore mostly empirical approaches to understanding government intervention, taxation, public expenditure, and the impact of public policies on economic efficiency and distribution. There is a general introduction for students not accostumed to economic concepts.

There will be short essays and tasks to be delivered regularly. The final grade will globally assess the work of the students. If the quality of the assignments is too low to pass the course, they will be given a second chance to improve them.
