Professor of Physical Geography He completed a Degree in Geography at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, 1993) and a Doctorate in Geography at the University of Barcelona (UB, 2000). He is a Lecturer in Physical Geography at the University of Girona (UdG), a member of the Environment and Geographic Information Technologies Research Group (http://web2.udg.edu/aigua) attached to the Environment Institute of the UdG (http://www.udg.edu/ima), and is a member of the Water, Territory and Sustainability Consolidated Research Group. Since 2008 until 2016 he has been Director of the Environment Institute (IMA-UdG). His research has focused on landscape analysis and evolution, with special emphasis on the process of land abandonment and landscape transformation in the Mediterranean biome. On a theoretical and methodological level, a key area of study has been the approach developed from a landscape ecology perspective. Much of his research has also focused on the planning and management of natural protected areas.
