Degree in Geography from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, 1993) and a PhD in Geography from the University of Barcelona (UB, 2000). Professor of Physical Geography at the University of Girona (UdG), member of the research group "Environment and the Geographical Information Technologies" (GRMATIG)(http://web2.udg.edu/aigua) attached to the Institute of the Environment of the University of Girona (http://www.udg.edu/ima) and member of the research group "Water, Territory and Sustainability"(GRATS) ( http://geografia.uab.cat/grats/). Since 2008 directs the Institute for the Environment (IMA-UdG). His research has focused on the analysis and evolution of the landscape with special attention to the processes of rural abandonment and landscape transformation in the Mediterranean biome. A theoretical and methodological level has been a key reference the approach developed from landscape ecology. Much of his research has also focused on protected natural areas and their planning and management.
