How to arrive, by plane?
If you are flying from anywhere in Europe, you might want to check the connections to Girona airport through low-cost companies:
- Ryanair connects Girona to many European cities (http://www.ryanair.com)
- Transavia connects Girona and the Netherlands (http://www.transavia.com)
- Wings connects Girona to Poland (http://www.centralwings.com)
- Wizzair connects Girona to Poland and Hungary (http://wizzair.com)
- Spanair connects Girona to Madrid, in case you arrive there (www.spanair.com)
Sometimes the low-cost airlines call this airport as Barcelona-Girona, as a second airport of Barcelona.
If you cannot fly directly to Girona, flying to Barcelona is the best alternative.
The airport "El Prat" in Barcelona is easily connected by train (every 1/2 hour) or bus (every 8 minutes) to the main train station in the city (Barcelona Sants Estació), from where you can take another train to Girona (will take approx. 1h 15m with the "Catalunya Express" and 1h 35m with a regular "Regional").
At the airport in Barcelona you may also rent a car or even take a taxi to Girona (approx. 130€ one way, so you might share with 3 or 4 in the same taxi).
