FINAL EXAM |
Final exam of the course.
Includes quiz about all contents of the course (theoretical framework, paper discussions and lab experiments).
Exam is based on discussion questions and interpretation of research graphs and texts.
This activity must be done individually. Students can use bibliographic material (papers, lecture notes, books) but not electronic devices with internet connection during the exam.
Maximum grade of this activity is 45.
Minimum grade to pass the course is 18.
This is a resit activity. |

Research paper discussions |
This is a cooperative activity. Groups will be organized in the course, tipically will consist of 2 to 4 students.
Research papers will be delivered at the begining of the course and must be analized and discussed scientifically.
This activity has a maximum grade of 40, divided in two parts, a summary of the work done (20) and a public presentation, scientific seminar, of the paper discussed (20).
All students must participate in the presentation of the work. |

Qualificació
Maximum mark for the course is 100 points, minimum mark to pass the course is 50 points. Final grading is derived from the following activities:
EXAM: contributes to final grading with 45 points. Final exam will include questions from all contents of the course, lectures, research and discussion papers, and laboratory experiments. Bibliographic material is permitted. Laptops and other devices with internet connection are forbidden. A minimum mark of 18 is required for this activity. This is a resit activity.
LABORATORY report: contributes to final grading with 15 points. Consists in a laboratory report and answers some questions related to tlaboratory work. This is a cooperative work activity (groups of 2-3 students).
RESEARCH PAPER discussions: contributes to final grading with 40 points. This activity has two parts, the study of a research paper and the presentation of a summary (20 points), its presentation as a research seminar (20 points). This is a group-working activity (4-5 students).
Final grades will be obtained adding the marks obtained in the three activities.
Those students who have a final mark <50 have the oportunity of a resit exam. This exam will have the same evaluation conditions above and will be scheduled during the examination period.
Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
Students will receive a NOT-PRESENTED mark only if ANY of the evaluation activities have not been delivered or they have not attended the laboratory sessions.
Avaluació única:
If necessary, a single examination will be carried out which will consist of a test of 30 multiple choice questions, which will be carried out electronically. This test will include questions about the different evaluable activities described in the following section (Qualification criteria)
Requisits mínims per aprovar:
To pass the subject a minimum grade of 5.0 is required.
Tutoria
The professor will establish a calendar of tutor meetings at the beginning of the course with the aim to guide the student in the non-presential work and resolve general and specific doubts related to the matter.
Tutor meetings may or may not be done in person, depending on the current public health situation
Comunicacio i interacció amb l'estudiantat
Communication with the professor will be channeled through the email address jesus.garcia@udg.edu.

Modificació del disseny
Modificació de les activitats:
Concerning the different scenarios that may occur due to the evolution of the Covid-19 during the academic period, teaching will proceed as follows
Scenario 1: soft lockdown (semi-presential)
The presential classes will be maintained
The laboratory activities and the Presentation of the Research Paper will be carried out entirely online through the teleconferencing platform decided at the time.
A virtual teaching space will be enabled in Google Classroom.
https://classroom.google.com/c/MTI4NTkzMzI2OTE2
which can be accessed with the code: uo54udz
Those presential activities that need to be replaced by the virtual ones will be channeled through this platform.
Scenario 2: Complete UdG lockdown
Faced with a scenario of total closure, the activity of the Presentation of the Research paper will be eliminated, but the classes will be maintained, which will be done electronically through the platform indicated at the time.
Attention to vulnerable students or those with temporary lockdown
In the event that a student is in a special situation of vulnerability or under health confinement, he will be allowed to replace face-to-face with online participation in teaching activities, with equal conditions with respect to those who are not.
Modificació de l'avaluació:
In the event that there are restrictions to presential lectures, either in a semi-presential or total closure of the UdG scenariios, the grading of the research presentation will be eliminated.
The grading of theoretical and practical sessions will be maintained in any case. Presential lectures can be replaced by virtual lectures
The modality of the examination will not change as the goal of the evaluation activity requires skills in bibliographic search and the capacity to solve problems from the information available.
Tutoria i comunicació:
In case of restrictions to the attendance, communication with students will be held through the online platform Google Classroom as well as by email.
