Estudia

• Reconèixer els elements essencials de la professió mèdica, que incloguin els principis ètics, les responsabilitats legals i l'exercici professional centrat en el pacient
• Desenvolupar la pràctica professional amb respecte pels altres professionals de la salut, adquirint habilitats de treball en equip
• Comunicar-se de manera efectiva i clara, tant oralment com per escrit, amb els pacients, els familiars, els mitjans de comunicació i altres professionals
• Conèixer, valorar críticament i saber utilitzar les fonts d'informació clínica i biomèdica per a obtenir, organitzar, interpretar i comunicar la informació científica i sanitària

1. To understand the definition of microbiome as a functional organ and its impact in human body functioning

2. To discern permanent vs transient dysbiosis and the influence and relationship of dysbiosis and physiopathology processes

3. To know microbiome dysbiosis impact in digestive diseases: Inflammatory bowel disease & irritable bowel syndrome, immunomodulated diseases and metabolic diseases

4. To review the current knowledge on the influence of microbiome in some other conditons: cancer, psychiatry…

5. To know the meaning of a fecal microbial signature

6. To understand what a pre-, a probiotic, a symbiotic are and how they work

Activitats d'avaluació:

PBL sessions will be assessed in accordance with the same criteria applied elsewhere in the curriculum. A minimum attendance of 80% of the scheduled PBL sessions is required to pass the subject.
PBL activities are the only ones that cannot be retaken in a second examination session if failed.

Workshop
The workshop will be fully graded based on full on-site attendance for the entire scheduled duration.

Final Assessment
The final evaluation will include a 15-question True/False questionnaire.

The maximum grade that may be attained in the actvities which the student failed is 5, regardless of the grade obtained in that giving activity and will count with that figure in the overall median grade with the rest of already passed activities.

Criteris específics de la nota «No Presentat»:
In case a student does not show up on one or more of the evaluation activities, the grade in that activity wil be 0.

Avaluació única:
The single assessment regulation is established in accordance with the “Normativa reguladora dels processos d’avaluació i qualificació dels estudiants”, approved by the Governing Council in session 11/2019 of 16 December 2019 (eBOU-1751), and the resolution of the Governing Commission of the Faculty of Medicine dated 15 September 2020.

Students may exceptionally apply for single assessment. By doing so, they waive the right to continuous assessment.
Point 2 of Article 8 of the resolution of the Faculty of Medicine’s Governing Commission (15 September 2020) states that students may request single assessment when they are unable to follow continuous assessment due to unforeseen events, such as health problems, serious family circumstances, or other long-term personal difficulties.

Students wishing to request single assessment must do so by submitting a formal request to the Academic Secretary’s Office, clearly stating in the corresponding form the specific modules for which single assessment is requested.
Students who have already taken part in any of the continuous assessment activities are not eligible to apply.
According to point 3 of Article 8, single assessment requests must be submitted no later than one week before the end of the module.

If the student has attended two-thirds or more of the PBL (Problem-Based Learning) sessions of the corresponding module, and has not communicated otherwise, these PBL sessions will be subject to assessment. Justified absences will be counted within the aforementioned two-thirds.

Requisits mínims per aprovar:
Minimum qualification to pass the Subject will be 5.0

Mentoring will be scheduled upon request via email or Moodle.

Communication will be conducted through email or Moodle.

We have reached an agreement with GoodGut (a branch of Hipra Pharmaceutical Company) to offer, free of charge, two stool dysbiosis tests for students — one for each subgroup.
If there is more than one volunteer per subgroup, a draw will be held to select one participant.

Exceptionally, if one subgroup has multiple volunteers and the other has none, the subgroups may be restructured for the purposes of the workshop.

If there are no volunteers at all, the workshop will still take place, using anonymized dysbiosis test results from patients.
