I joined the LEQUIA-UdG group to pursue my PhD which I successfully defended in 2016. Throughout my doctoral training, I specialized in Adsorption and Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs), focusing on their applications in treating gas effluents and controlling odors. Additionally, I gained expertise in the development and integration of nanoporous materials for environmental remediation.
In 2017, I was honored with an MSCA TecnioSpring+ postdoctoral fellowship for the SILCAP project. During my time in Boston, I led research activities at Cabot Corporation, focusing on removing siloxanes to prevent the deactivation of photocatalysts used in air purifiers. We successfully developed a material for siloxane removal in biogas upgrading, which has since been commercialized worldwide.
Upon returning to LEQUIA in 2019, I contributed to the BiogasApp project, focusing on developing biotechnologies using Biotrickling Filters and Membrane Bioreactors for biogas purification. Subsequently, after being awarded the JdC-I fellowship, I became involved in the Sherlock project and various industrial contracts. These projects aimed to evaluate drinking water treatment units, assess technology, and optimize the use of AOPs to minimize disinfection by-products. Additionally, I am working on optimizing the operation of a demonstration-scale pilot plant for High-Rate Activated Sludge, a novel wastewater treatment method for carbon harvesting. Simultaneously, I collaborate with the CRM on developing mathematical models to simulate the usage of porous media in adsorption columns, leading to the successful launch of the MathCol Software, a digital product for environmental applications.
Moreover, I have supervised over 20 Master's and Bachelor's final projects and served as a jury member. Since 2015, I have been a professor in Master's and Bachelor's programs, accumulating over 80 ECTS credits. I am also a member of the Department Board of Chemical Engineering and hold AQU Tenure-eligible lecturer Accreditation. Additionally, I have published more than 20 articles in high-impact JCR journals and contributed to over 35 oral presentations, including keynotes and invited talks.
