Ramon Moreno Amich
Professor Ramon Moreno-Amich is a doctor in Biology (1988) and university professor (2000) at the University of Girona, in the area of Ecology. He is attached to the Department of Environmental Sciences, and is a researcher at the Institute of Aquatic Ecology of the same university.
His research work has been developed in the field of fish ecology and limnology of Mediterranean lakes and wetlands. Most of his research has been developed around the study of the fish feeding regime, the interactions between introduced and native fish species in Lake Banyoles, and the functioning of the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà. His teaching focuses in subjects of Aquatic Ecology, Environmental Science Projects and Environmental Impact Assessment, and the Master in Cultural and Natural Heritage from the University of Girona. He has also directed the Master in Environmental Management, and the Postgraduate Diplomas in Environmental Management at the municipal level, in Environmental Control and Certification Systems, in Forest Management and Planning, and in Environmental Communication and Sustainability, all of them from the University of Girona.
Until 2006 he was the initiator and director of the Research Group on Continental Aquatic Ecology (GRECO), of the Institute of Aquatic Ecology of the University of Girona. GRECO (http://www.udg.edu/greco) is a large, interdisciplinary group with extensive experience in limnological research.
From 2002 to 2005, he was First Vice-Rector of the University of Girona, and from 2013 to 2017, Vice-Rector of Planning, Innovation and Business of the University of Girona and Director of the “e-MTA” Campus of International Excellence in Girona.
From 2007 to 2009, he served as General Director of Research of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Department of Innovation, Universities and Business; Later and until 2011, within the same department he was General Director of the Institution of Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA).
In 2012 and 2013 he was director of the Institute of Aquatic Ecology, and he is again from 2022 to the present.
