Dr. Albert Cabané Cañas
is a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Civil Engineering of the
Technical University of Catalonia (UPC-BarcelonaTech), where he has been
working since 2023. He holds a Ph.D. in Construction Engineering from
UPC-BarcelonaTech and a degree in Architecture from the School of
Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB).
His academic background includes
two Erasmus + exchange programs: one at IUAV University of Venice in
2011 and another at the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiBACT) in the
Venetian Lagoon in 2015, where he undertook an international internship
focused on heritage-related activities.
His research is centered on the
experimental mechanical characterization of masonry, both in laboratory
settings and through in-situ testing using minor destructive techniques
(MDT) and non-destructive techniques (NDT). He has contributed to the
development and standardization of procedures for the mechanical
assessment of solid clay bricks.
Dr. Cabané
is a member of the International Scientific Committee on the Analysis
and Restoration of Structures of the Architectural Heritage (ISCARSAH),
the RILEM Technical Committee on Testing Methods for Masonry Cores (TC
CTM), and the International Masonry Society (IMS), participating in
collaborative efforts to advance the field of masonry research and
conservation engineering.
