Carolina Puyaltó has a degree in Social Education (University of Lleida, 2010), a degree in Psycho-pedagogy (University of Girona, 2012), a master’s degree in Education in Diversity (University of Girona, 2014) and a Doctorate in Education and Disability (University of Girona, 2017). Since March 2020, she works as a tenure eligible lecturer in the Department of Pedagogy at the University of Girona. She is a member of the Institute for Educational Research at the University of Girona, and a member of the Diversity Research Group. She is fluent in four languages: Catalan, Spanish, French and English.

 

Research topics and research skills

Her main research topics are the social and educational inclusion of people with disabilities and the inclusive research processes in which people with disabilities participate as researchers. The main methodologies used are the qualitative, mixed, and participatory approaches.

 

Projects

From 2013 to the present, she has participated as a researcher in 10 research projects (3 international projects – 2 in Canada and 1 Erasmus+- and 7 national projects).

 

Academic publications

She is the co-author of a total of 23 articles, including:

  • 11 articles in journals indexed with external evaluation (JCR and SJR)
  • 12 articles in open access non-indexed journals

 

Congresses

She has participated in several national and international conferences where she has made a total of 32 contributions (29 papers and 3 posters). These international conferences include the Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences (organized by the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences of Canada), the Nordic Network on Disability Research, the Alter Conference (organized by the European Society for Disability Research), the ECER (organized by the European Educational Research Association) and the IASSID Europe International Congress (organized by the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities).

 

International stays

She has done 2 international stays in 2 foreign universities:

  • 4-month of pre-doctoral stay at the National Institute for Intellectual Disabilities at the Trinity College Dublin, in Ireland (2014).

16-month of postdoctoral stay at the University of Moncton in Canada (2017-2018).

 

Teaching experience

Since 2013, she mainly teaches in the Bachelor's Degree in Social Education and in the Master Degree In Inclusive Education of the University of Girona. She is also part of two teaching innovation groups: The TeachingTeaching Innovation Group of Emotional Competences in Social Education and the Innovation Group of Narratives in Social Education.
