Brief CV

Jordi Soler performed the double degree in Physics and Chemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) where he was part of the group of Prof. Josep Maria Lluch and Prof. Àngels González Lafont. Then, he did the European Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Molecular Modeling (EM-TCCM) at the Université Paul Sabatier - Toulouse 3 (France) with the support of the TCCM scholarship. During the master's degree, he did research stays in the groups of Prof. Martial Boggio-Pasqua (LCPQ, Paul Sabatier, France), Prof. Marie Brut (LAAS, CNRS, France) and Prof. Pedro A. Fernandes and Prof. Maria Ramos (Universidade do Porto, Portugal).

He obtained his PhD in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Sílvia Osuna and Dr. Marc Garcia-Borràs at the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC-UdG). He investigated new-to-nature biotransformations on Fe-dependent enzymes using MD simulations and QM/MM calculations, collaborating with world-leading groups in biocatalysis and directed evolution, including Jun.-Prof. Stephan C. Hammer (Bielefeld University), Prof. Xiongyi Huang (Johns Hopkins University), and Prof. Martin J. Weissenborn (Martin Luther-University), among others. He also conducted research at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB, University of Manchester, UK) under Prof. Sabine L. Flitsch.

The impact of his work can be seen in the number and quality of his scientific outputs, totalling 15 publications, including Science, Nat. Catal., Nat. Synth., JACS, Angewandte, and ACS Catal. Moreover, he have presented at national and international conferences, including 10 oral and 2 poster presentations. During his studies he received competitive funding from the Spanish Government (FPU fellowship), and an IF-UdG 2019 fellowship (declined in lieu of the FPU fellowship). He have also received several mobility grants. In addition to his research outcomes, he have also engaged in teaching at UdG and science outreach activities including the "European Research Night" in Perugia (Italy) and Girona.
