Dr. Joaquim Majó has been the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism since 2016. He is an Associate Professor of Business, Computer Engineer, and Ph.D. from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya.Since 1993 he has been a professor at the Escuela Oficial de Turismo de la Generalitat of Catalonia, which has evolved into the Faculty of Tourism, University of Girona. His teaching revolves around Information Technologies and communications (ICT) and how they are applied to tourism management and their companies.His research focuses on using Information Technologies and Communications (ICT) in tourism. His Ph.D. thesis was based on ICT use in tourist information offices and tourism products. He has published several articles in journals and conferences on the impact of ICT on tourism.He has been coordinator of studies and director of the School of Tourism, Vice-president of Technology Development and Institutional Relations at the University of Girona, director of the Official Master in Tourism Management and Planning, and vice-dean of the faculty of Tourism.He was the project's general coordinator for creating the degree in Tourism, drawn for all Spanish universities teaching tourism in the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).He has participated in various national and international forums on tourism education and worked on different projects of tourism education. He has also been involved in several European competitive projects in the field of Tourism, projects such as Tempus1-2013 based on education tourism for hospitality management and INCOME project based on dual learning in tourism
