Anaïs Varo holds a M.A in Human Rights and Citizenship with a specialisation in Institutions and Civil society. Currently she is a PhD researcher in Politics, Policy and Institutions. She holds the position of Deputy Director of the UNITWIN Network and UNESCO University Chair in Sustainable Human Development. She has been honored with high distinctions for her undergraduated studies and Master studies. Recently she has received the Spanish National Prize of Graduation in Social Science and Law.
She has completed research stays at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Mexico City) and Ecofys (Utrecht). She has teaching experience in the Political Science Area in the University of Girona. She also has professional experience in public policies at the regional level, in particular on housing and social policies, and she has worked as consultant in participation processes at the municipal level.
Her current research focuses on public policies against energy poverty in Europe. She analyses the impact of the energy poverty phenomenon and the innovative policies to tackle it. She nurtures a keen interest in the emergence of alternative forms of energy production, distribution and supplying and its impact on energy inequalities.
