Josep Burch i Rius is a PhD in History from the Universitat of Girona since 1996 and is Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the same university since 1999. His main lines of research have focused on the field of archaeology and cultural heritage. He has participated in and/or directed several archaeological research projects. Specifically, in the Iberian oppida of Sant Sebastià de la Guarda (Palafrugell) and Sant Julià de Ramis, the Iberian archaeological site of Bosc del Congost (Sant Julià de Ramis), the Roman villas of Pla de Palol (Platja de Aro), Casa del Racó (Sant Julià de Ramis) and Collet (Calonge i Sant Antoni) and the Roman pottery workshop of Collet Est (Calonge i Sant Antoni). Member of several consolidated research groups since 2003. From 2004 to 2007 he was director of the Institut del Patrimoni Cultural de la Universitat de Girona, from 2007 to 2013 technical director of the Institut Català de Recerca en Patrimoni Cultural and from 2018 to 2021 director of the Càtedra Roses de Arqueologia i Patrimoni Arqueològic.
