En
Leslie Mahe Collazo Expósito is a Tenure-Track Lecturer
at the Faculty of Education and Psychology at the University of Girona (UdG),
where she contributes to teaching and research in education for sustainability,
experimental sciences for trainers, and curricular innovation in higher
education. She holds a PhD in Education (cum laude) from the University of
Girona, a Master’s degree in Education for Diversity (UdG), and a degree in
Biology from the University of Havana. Her academic background is complemented
by specialised postgraduate training in university teaching, environmental
management (University of Alicante, Spain), sustainability leadership
(Schumacher College, England) and dietètics and nutrition (University of
Navarra).
Her academic career includes positions as postdoctoral
researcher and associate lecturer at the University of Girona, visiting
professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, and international teaching
and research collaborations with universities in Chile, Perú, Colombia and
Regne Unit. She also brings earlier professional experience as a secondary
school science teacher and environmental consultant, which informs her applied
and interdisciplinary approach to sustainability education.
Dr Collazo Expósito has participated as a researcher in
several national and international competitive projects related to Education
for Sustainable Development and the integration of Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) into higher education curricula, including Erasmus+ projects and
Spanish national research initiatives. She has also held academic coordination
roles, such as coordinator of innovation networks on SDGs in teaching at UdG,
member of the Advisory Board of the Chair of University Social Responsibility,
and reviewer for international scientific journals including Sustainability and
Science Education. In November 2025, he took on the challenge of creating the Chair of Healthy and Sustainable Food at the University of Girona, whose mission is to promote research, education, and societal engagement to advance dietary patterns that improve human health while respecting environmental sustainability.
Her publication record includes more than twenty
scientific contributions in the field of sustainability education and higher
education transformation. Notable publications include articles in journals
such as Sustainability (2020), Enseñanza de las Ciencias (2022), and the
Revista Iberoamericana de Educación (2017), as well as several book chapters
published by recognised academic publishers. Her work focuses particularly on
co-creation methodologies, systems thinking, and transformative learning approaches
to foster sustainability competencies in higher education.
