Research Interests

During my PhD I was interested in the determination of synoptic patterns in the western Mediterranean, working with Dr. R. Romero from the UIB and carrying out collaborative projects with Dr. Sonya Legg at Princeton University specialized in modelling of coupled ocean-climate systems.

Currently my main line of research is dedicated to the study of sediment transport in coastal systems (costal seagrasses and saltmarshes) where circulations generated by tides, gravity currents can be found. These studies are carried out in both the laboratory and the field, and they are focussed on determining the geomorphologic changes in the presence, absence of vegetation or fragmented canopies.

I have developed a range of research that can be divided in two areas:

  1. Research on coastal sea habitats and the ecosystem services they provide

Associated project: FRAGMENTUM: Hydrodynamics in fragmented wetlands. Funded by the Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad. Partnership with the University of Lancaster and the University of Western Australia. Budget: 65,200.00 euros.

  1. Application of active methodologies in teaching

Associated project: Application of new methodologies for competence learning in the rural school of Abay Mado (Ethiopia) and in the schools in Ahmara region (Ethiopia) and in Emboret (Tanzania). Funded by the Area of Cooperation for Sustainable Development at the UdG. Budget: 39,508.52 euros.
