Graduated in Biology from the UAB in 1990 and PhD from the UdG in 1996. Since 2000 I have been a full professor in the area of Microbiology, within the Department of Biology. I have taught and continue to teach at different levels in degrees and masters within this field of knowledge, in subjects aimed mainly at the training of biologists, environmental scientists and biotechnologists: Environmental microbiology, Bioremediation, Geomicrobiology, Health and environment, Water treatment systems, Microbiology, Fundamental Biology, etc. As a researcher, I belong to the Molecular Microbial Ecology group (gEMM), assigned to the Institut d'Ecologia Aquàtica. My field of specialization is the ecology of microorganisms in different environments, both natural and artificial or contaminated, with special emphasis on freshwater systems, bacterial processes in biogeochemical cycles and environmental applications related to nutrient removal and bioremediation. Concerning university management, I have been coordinator of the Biology degree (2000-2004) and vicedean of Studies (2008-2022) of the Faculty of Sciences.
