ABOUT MY RESEARCHMy research investigates how infants acquire language through their everyday environments, with a particular focus on multilingual children. I examine how children exposed to more than one language learn words and build their vocabulary, and how these processes vary across diverse societies and cultures. I also explore how variation in the language input children receive shapes both brain development and emerging language skills across development. To address these questions, I draw on a range of methods from cognitive science, including portable and laboratory-based eye-tracking, naturalistic home audio recordings, and computational modelling. Alongside this, I work to apply this knowledge to educational practice and policy, so that multilingual acquisition can be better supported in daycares and preschools as well as at the societal level.
