I am a Tenure-Eligible Lecturer in the Area of Social Work and Social Services, Department of Pedagogy, Faculty of Education and Psychology, at the University of Girona, where I have served as Coordinator of the Bachelor''s Degree in Social Work since March 2026. I hold a PhD in Education from the University of Girona, with a doctoral thesis entitled “Innovación social, pobreza y vulnerabilidad. Los pequeños municipios de la provincia de Girona y la ciudad de Olot ante el reto de la cohesión social” (Social Innovation, Poverty and Vulnerability: Small Municipalities in the Province of Girona and the City of Olot Facing the Challenge of Social Cohesion). I also hold a Master''s Degree in Political Analysis and a Bachelor''s Degree in Labour Sciences from the Open University of Catalonia, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Conflict Resolution and Community Mediation. I am a member of the LIBERI Research Group on Childhood, Youth and Community and the European Social Work Research Association (ESWRA).
My professional career combines academic research, university teaching and extensive experience in social services and community-based intervention. Before joining the University of Girona full-time, I worked for more than a decade as a community practitioner in the social services of La Garrotxa, where I developed projects focusing on community intervention, social cohesion, participation and responses to social vulnerability. I have also supervised mediation professionals for the Barcelona Provincial Council and directed training programmes in conflict management and community and family mediation in the context of Roma communities, in collaboration with the Government of Catalonia.
My main research interests focus on social services, social work and community social work, with particular attention to models of social intervention and support, professional practices, the participation of individuals and communities, and institutional responses to poverty, vulnerability and social exclusion. I also examine processes of social cohesion, community organising and relationships between citizens, professionals and institutions. I have participated in research projects at Catalan, national and European levels, as well as applied research studies conducted in collaboration with public administrations and social organisations. My research is particularly concerned with connecting academic knowledge, professional practice and the transformation of social services.
In the field of teaching and academic management, I currently coordinate the Bachelor''s Degree in Social Work at the University of Girona and previously served as Coordinator of the Master''s Degree in Migration Movements in the 21st Century from March 2024 to March 2026. I have promoted teaching innovation initiatives aimed at connecting university education with professional practice in social services and community intervention. I have also contributed to the internationalisation of social work education through participation in European networks and collaboration with higher education institutions, particularly the Institut Régional du Travail Social in Perpignan. My academic and professional trajectory is characterised by a commitment to integrating research, teaching and professional practice to advance social work and social services from a community-based and participatory perspective, emphasising person-centred support and the incorporation of people''s lived experiences and knowledge into the improvement of teaching and professional practices.
