Irene Fontdevila-Sibat is a lecturer in the Department of Specific Didactics at the Universitat de Girona, where she teaches and conducts research in the field of music education. She holds a PhD in Music Education Didactics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Since 2004, she has taught piano, music theory, choral singing and instrumental ensemble at various music schools in Barcelona, with a particular interest in and commitment to the early stages of music learning. For more than twenty years, she has been affiliated with the Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona, where she has undertaken teaching, assessment and coordination responsibilities across elementary-level music education and the Bachelor''''s Degree in Higher Artistic Education in Music, specialising in Music Pedagogy.
From 2016 to 2026, she was part of the teaching and coordination team of the Music for Social Inclusion in Primary Education Programme, promoted by the Liceu Conservatory-Fundació Ferrer de Música. She is the author of educational materials for introductory music education.
Her research focuses on collective composition, social inclusion, the role of teachers, and self-regulated learning, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of educational practice in diverse and inclusive musical contexts.
